Led by Roger Thomson, Ph.D.
We are offering a study group on mindfulness and psychotherapy for clinicians who are interested in learning more about mindfulness as an essential part of the therapeutic process. The group meets once a month, on Friday mornings, and includes readings, case discussions, and exploration of the psychotherapist's mindfulness practice. Interested professionals can contact Dr. Thomson by email through our Contact form, or by phone at 312-263-8034.
With their extensive experience in psychology training, Dr. Thomson and Dr. Connors have been uniquely interested in creating a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Clinical Psychology as part of the mission of Integrative Health Partners. This two-year training program is open to graduates of APA-approved doctoral programs in clinical psychology. Applicants must have completed an APA-approved internship, and have demonstrated an interest in integrative psychodynamic psychotherapy. Like all of our clinicians, postdoctoral fellows at Integrative Health Partners have a personal mindfulness practice and are interested in exploring the integration of mindfulness and psychotherapy.
Our training program provides all of the postdoctoral training experiences necessary for licensing as a clinical psychologist, including clinical service, individual supervision, and didactic seminars. Candidates should apply by April 15th of their internship year by contacting either Dr. Thomson or Dr. Connors.
Postdoctoral Fellows have completed their doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in psychology, and are working under supervision while they prepare for the licensing examination in Clinical Psychology. Because they are not yet licensed as psychologists, their services cannot usually be reimbursed by insurance plans. However, we can often extend a more generous sliding scale for the therapy provided by postdoctoral fellows. In many cases, the client's actual out-of-pocket costs may be quite similar to their insurance plan's deductible and co-pays.
Mental health professionals are welcome to join any of our ongoing study groups. Mary Connors will be leading a study group on symptom-focused dynamic psychotherapy. This group will focus on the practice of integrative psychotherapy, using readings and case discussions.
If you would like to receive reprints of professional papers by Dr. Connors or Dr. Thomson, please use our Resources page, or go to our Contact form to request other papers.
